Miss Margo Price, 2018
Original Painting NFS
This painting is based off a photograph taken by Jenna Laurenn. Miss Price is sitting in The Green Room at Thalia Hall in Chicago. ( I didn't even think about that when I decided on the green background...I just knew I wanted an emerald feel with the red suit!)
I was just reminding a close friend of mine that those of us that survive to tell our stories, are the ones that make the biggest impact on others. One of the many things that I love about Miss Margo Price, is her story. She's been through some serious heartache and people telling her she didn't quite cut it- and look where she is now. It's our stories of struggle that make us human and connect us to one another in meaningful ways. I'm so inspired by her. I want my paintings to exude this strength and power and resiliency- whether it's of a musician, or of a fox, bison, or owl. I've got my own stories of struggle and these paintings are a direct outcome of that. No struggle, no story. (And yes...that third image is the painting taped to the side of my house...that's how I get the good natural lighting! #nostrugglenostory)
