FAQ

What size is your work?
Most original work is 42”x56”, give or take a few inches. Most paintings done before 2018 are 38”x50”.
Do you make smaller paintings?
I now offer many different sizes. The best thing is to email me and we can get the conversation started.
Why do you work big?
I like to paint BIG because it allows me to step inside the work. It helps me stay loose. When I am standing up, I can literally dance while I work. I LOVE working big.
Do you work on canvas?
I paint on BFK Rives paper. It is 100% cotton, heavy weight, acid free and amazing. ***As of 2022 I am now painting on paper, canvas and wood panels. It just depends on the project! Email me and let's talk about ideas.
Why do you work on paper?
I was a Drawing Major in undergraduate school. I also focused a lot on printmaking. Then I earned an MFA in Textile Design with a focus on surface print wallpaper. I’ve loved paper from the beginning. I love the way it soaks up the paint.
How do you hang the work?
I highly recommend having the work professionally framed. (Canvas and paintings on panels don't need framed.)
Do you sell prints?
Yes, most of my work is available in museum quality fine art prints in 3 different sizes.
Will you paint my pet?
Yes, I would love to! The work is 42"x56", give or take a few inches on the 56", and 32"x42" (***new 17.5"x20" for cats and tiny pups) If you are local to the Madison area, I would like to take the reference photo myself. If you are not local, I will need an up close head shot in natural light. We will discuss this further once you contact me. The current price is between $650.00 and $5000.00 (depending on the commission) plus WI Sales Tax if you are local. Why the gap in pricing? It really depends on the animals and how much time it will take me, and if you want two, three (four??) pets on one page as apposed to just one small pet. A non-refundable deposit of half the amount will be needed before I begin the work.
May I commission a Wild Animal painting?
Yes, of course! Please email me what animal you have in mind and we can begin a conversation. The base price for a 42"x56" commissioned Wild Animal (a Wolf, for example) would be $3000. A non-refundable deposit of half the amount will be needed before I begin the work. We can also discuss smaller work!
What is your turnaround time for a commissioned painting?
4-6 weeks depending on my workload. I will give you an estimated completion date once a plan has been discussed.
I live in the Madison area. Do I have to pay shipping?
If you would like to purchase a painting or a print and PICK UP your art at Johnson Public House in Madison or Wildwood Cafe in Stoughton, please use coupon code MADISONPICKUP. You must arrange the pick up with me so that the work isn't sitting at the location for more than a day. Thank you!
