Four-Eyed Cats in Mid-Century Spaces is a series rooted in memory and the aesthetics that shaped my childhood. My mother’s family ran a furniture store for fifty years, and I spent countless hours wandering its staged rooms, pretending I lived inside them. I was always drawn to the colors, the curated arrangements, the catalogs, and the encyclopedias of “good decorating” that filled the shelves.

When my mom surprised me years later with those same books, I knew they would become the seed of something larger. I began painting mid-century interiors—spaces that felt like home—and placed within them my own two cats, rendered with a surreal four-eyed twist. That detail emerged after a commissioned piece sparked the idea; it made space for humor, strangeness, and dual ways of seeing.

The objects in these rooms are part of my life, too: handmade meat pillows from an early series, lamps from my vintage collection, heirlooms passed down through my family. Together they blur the boundary between past and present, imagination and lived space.

This series also marked my transition into water-soluble oils, a medium that invited slowness and a more intimate attention to detail.

The work is nostalgic, playful, and slightly uncanny—familiar at first glance, stranger the longer you look.
