Inspired by the heartbreaking scene in The NeverEnding Story where the horse Artax sinks into despair, this self-portrait explores vulnerability and survival. Painted during 2020, I appear nude except for socks, a hat, and a mask — a symbol of both exposure and protection. This piece speaks to my own history with depression, capturing the raw weight of sinking alongside Artax while daring to remain visible.
The work is best displayed professionally framed to preserve its depth and detail. Please contact me for additional photos or questions.
